Manga, マンガ、まんが

I knew that this was going to happen. Not having anything to read during those idle moments at the crib can be a terrible thing, so I’ve been catching up on the later volumes of Katsura’s ZETMAN. God forbid that I find a place selling the deluxe version of I”s.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been semi-retired from the shoe game (I reserve the right to pull an MJ later), but I’ve been really back into the manga and DVDs since I’ve been in Japan. Some of the coordinators actually advised us to “spend some cash on something that’ll make you happy,” but I dunno if they took into consideration that an abundance of comics and ice cream may be what make certain people happy.

Do As Infinity...To Reunite!?

An interesting video of DAI rehearsing "Summer Days" has surfaced recently. I was actually never particularly fond of this specific song, but that's beside the point here; at the end of the video, the camera pans to reveal what appears to be a 3G iPhone on a table. Given that DAI disbanded in 2005, and that the 3G iPhone just recently released in Japan, it seems logical to conclude that Tomiko Van and Ryo Owatari are currently back and jamming together for one reason or another.

Perhaps they're doing a one & done type appearance to celebrate Avex's 20th anniversary at A-Nation later this month, or perhaps they're gearing up for a full time return? I'm nonetheless giddy as hell, and will go positively apeshit for any type of DAI reunion.

SANYO W63SA

There she is. I’m quite smitten with her.

I’ve decided to name it “Akina,” after the wonderful little saleslady who sold it to me whom I’m equally smitten with.

To be perfectly honest, being able to watch television on your mobile is sort of an unnecessary luxury in my opinion, but the LEG (lower-echelon geekiness) in me can't help but get excited about all the gratuitous bells and whistles anyway. The phone itself is AU’s top Global Passport model, which means that I should be able to get coverage back in Hawaii, and which also means that I’m now tempted to fly home for Christmas just to test it out. That’s probably neither realistic nor intelligent, but “realistic” and “intelligent” are two words that I certainly cannot use to describe my spending habits over the past 3 weeks. There’s something about the products in Japan that makes me want to purchase everything. Even the laundry detergent smells better here.

Blue Hawaii

I think that I might be missing home a little.

Unfortunately, Pepsi's version of Hawaii tastes considerably like Japan.

Goran Dragic Coming To Phoenix

But is he ready to back up Nash?

After years of watching Nash and his twisty, bendy layups, I'm not really sure how to react when I see a point guard unleashing gorilla dunks on the rim. It's actually kind of awkward.

I'm liking what I'm hearing about the kid, but there was a point in time that I liked the Marcus Banks signing too, so...

ちょっとびっくり

She's beaten FFX more times than I have.

This is concurrently alarming and awesome.

Lesnar Dominant Over Herring

His technique still looks a little rough around the edges, but he's so strong and fast that it almost isn't fair.

I actually think that Cheick Kongo would give Lesnar a lot of problems with his striking, but that's a fight that would certainly make for one heck of a spectacle.

My New World

How I'm livin' - bentos and apple tea.

What's funny is that there's a vending machine right outside of my apartment. I probably should have expected as much, but I never stopped to consider what it'd be like to be able to purchase grape soda literally 10 seconds away from my home.

Frightening. At any rate, I'm alive and mostly well, and that certainly counts for something. No car (for a little bit), no cell phone, no actual friends to speak of...I kind of feel like I'm 5 again.

Tired As Hell

So I just spent a good half an hour looking for my keys. It turns out that I had accidentally dropped them into one of the many shoes that currently litter my room. That's the last straw.

I'd say that I've got a busy day coming up tomorrow, but that's a gross understatement.
